HyperEVM Setup Challenge
Test your knowledge of HyperEVM configuration, network settings, and Solidity contract development basics.
1. What are the chain IDs for HyperEVM mainnet and testnet?
HyperEVM mainnet uses chain ID 999 and testnet uses chain ID 998 (Hyperliquid docs, HyperEVM developer section).
2. What is the correct public RPC URL for HyperEVM mainnet?
The HyperEVM mainnet JSON-RPC endpoint is https://rpc.hyperliquid.xyz/evm. The testnet uses https://rpc.hyperliquid-testnet.xyz/evm.
3. Your contract deployment needs more gas than a HyperEVM small block allows. What should you do?
Small blocks have a much lower gas limit (3M as of October 2026) than big blocks (30M). Sending {"type": "evmUserModify", "usingBigBlocks": true} from the deployer (which must exist as a HyperCore user) routes its transactions to big blocks; unset it afterwards.
4. Which EVM hardfork does HyperEVM follow?
Per the Hyperliquid docs, HyperEVM uses the Cancun hardfork without blobs, with EIP-1559 enabled. Set evmVersion to cancun (or earlier) when compiling.
5. Which testing framework is recommended for faster smart contract testing on HyperEVM?
Foundry (using `forge test -vvv`) is recommended for faster testing. While Hardhat works well too (`npx hardhat test`), Foundry is generally faster for contract testing.
